At New Way, the Lower School began the year with the option for a Jiu-Jitsu class; now the high school also has that option! Here are some details that explain the class.
The coach is Valentino Hernandez, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) athlete and instructor has been training and competing in the martial arts since 2002.
Jiu-Jitsu is a great activity for learning self-defense, physical fitness, confidence, focus, and self-control. Safety is important, so punching, kicking, or attacking is not a part of this sport.
The overall goal of goal of this club is to teach students how to fall properly, escape from holds, and defense against being pulled.
“I’m ecstatic to be able to introduce Jiu-Jitsu to New Way students, and am looking forward to working with these future little warriors!” Hernandez stated.
